Learn how to sial in this beginner taster session! You need no prior exeprience to take part as you climb aboard with 4 others to learn the ropes from a fully qualified skipper. The trip will last approx. 3 hours and depart at high tide (times change daily so checking ahead is advised).

A 1940s extravaganza along the 12 mile line. Featuring entertainers such as Paul Harper, Don Gentile, The Rum & Cola Girls, The Washboard Resonators, The Bluebird Belles, Rachel Mercer and Kelly Ann. There will also be battle re-enactments, live music & dancing, classic vehicles, characters from 'allo 'allo, fashion stalls, magician & Spiv, re-enactors such as Winston Churchill, and a working spitfire! There will be lots more going on over the weekend to keep the whole family entertained, definitely one to pop along to if you have a spare afternoon. The event boasts an impressive producers' market and more demonstrations and activities than you can shake a fork at. There is plenty to keep the whole family entertained so everyone can join in and try something extraordinary.

Voted "Britain's favourite mountain", Helvellyn is not for the faint hearted. This fantastic opportunity to be guided by a professional up to the summit and escape daytime crowds will give you one of the most peaceful walks with what only can be described as some of the best sunset views the UK has to offer. The walk spans an 11 mile circular walk where you will traverse not one but five summits! If you love your walking this one might be for you. Dogs are also welcome if you are confident they will be able to manage the walk. Read below for more information and prices.

Running for just over 180 years, one of the countries most treasured agriculture shows is back for 2018. Now having 'Royal' status, the show promises to be full to the brim with exiting displays, rare breeds, and of course, heated competitions. " Cheshire show holds many competition classes for cattle, sheep, pigs and dairy goats. Hundreds of classes are also included for light and heavy horses, show jumping, rare breeds of livestock, poultry, pygmy goats, pigeons, cavies, rabbits and dog show." This is one not to miss if you are staying in the area!

Beginning in 2012, Light the Lakes is back for another year. The event aims to light as many lanterns as it can across the Wainwright fells, and along the way raise money for COPS (Care of Police Survivors). On the day you will collect your welcome pack and head towards your climb later that day at your own pace. You will then light your flare in the early hours of 22/06/2019. You will then descend back for some rest and then mett at Brathay Hall to meet your fellow participants and toast the evening. The event is incredibly popular and continues to grow year on year due the passion and determination of the people behind it. It's a fantastic event that brings communities together and lets you learn some really interesting things about the area - a must if you're visiting the area!

Kirkby Lonsdale and the Lune Valley are ready to let the music play for the 2019 All-British Traditional Irish Music Festival. Throughout the 61 years the festival has been going for, it has never before been held in a town (only schools and universities!). The festival will see over 300 competing musicians play their hearts out to take part in this prestigious event. Featuring every traditionally Irish instrument possible, the historic town of Kirkby Lonsdale will make the perfect stage for such a historic festival. If music doesn't float your boat, there will also be amazing Irish dancers making their way around the various venues over the 3 day event.

For three days only, one of the biggest agricultural events in the English calendar returns for another year to gather the crowds. With over 130,000 visitors and 8,500 animals attending last years event, 2019 is set to be bigger than ever. Go along to experience competitions, agriculture, a Royal visit, and of course some glorious sunshine.

Get your wellies out for the Garstang Show, a leading one day agricultural and horticultural show in the north west! It's packed full of entertainment for all the family on 3rd August. At its heart, the livestock and horticulture displays are set to be fantastic. Open from 8.30am until 6pm, the show promises to be a brilliant family day out, packed full of entertainment. There will be agricultural and horticultural displays, a farmers market, craft stalls, children's entertainment, a variety of trade stands, music, local food and beer.

Located on the fringes of the Lake District, Westmorland County Show is a fantastic day out – voted as one of the UK’s favourite Shows and enjoyed by over 30,000 visitors every year. A major livestock Show with classes for cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and alpacas, heavy and light horses too, there’s plenty to see. With livestock, foxhounds, and more, you can learn about the industry or take to the shops and buy some bespoke local produce.

Bringing together some of the most mouthwatering and thirst quenching food and drink for foodies across Cumbria, Taste Cumbria 2019 is returning to bless the taste buds of Cockermouth in one of the county's biggest culinary events. The event has been carefully compiled by Taste Cumbria magazine and Cumbria Life, two major players in the Cumbrian food world, and definitely the right people to organise any event about Cumbrian food! With over 80 stalls and an expected 40,000 attendees, the event is going to be a big one you're not going to want to miss. There will also be a pop-up restaurant with one of the county’s best chefs, demonstrations from some brilliant food and drink experts, a beer festival, comedy night, children’s activities and free town trails to help visitors explore.

It's never too early to get excited about Christmas, and with one of the tastiest Christmas festivals coming up - we can't wait! Appearing at the festival will be all your festive favourites, with some new ones to boot. Mince pies, mulled wine, festive fizz, fancy cakes, hot food, cold food, and everything in between - you will find it at Taste Christmas Festival. The event takes place Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th December 2019 at Cockermouth . Expect to see a giant producers’ market with 60 stalls, a hot food court with meals and snacks, and a bar packed with ales and fizz. There will also be plenty of family activities and festive entertainment, with a fairground and Christmassy arts and crafts. The local Christmas Lights will also be twinkling in the background for your day making the festival truly special.
